Glossybox February 2012

This post comes a bit late, I know! I received my February Glossybox  on March the 3rd and I've had the time to do some photos at it today. After January's fuschia packaging, they're back to their classic pale pink - which, by the way, I like better :)

The thing I was interested the most from this Glossybox was this Murad Skin Perfecting Primer, which claims to "create a smooth radiant canvas while minimizing the appearance of pores". Well, I didn't have the chance to tell if it works, because it's just too dark for my skintone and it makes my face looks orange. It's a pity because I had heard so many good things about this product and I'm really interested in trying anything that's supposed to make my skin look better, and now I can't use this because of its colour! Big disappointment. I suppose they have to put something that works for the majority of people in the Glossybox though, so I can't complain. I guess I'll just give it away to somebody. If you're interested in swapping, just tell me ;)

The three products in the photos below are the ones that disappointed me the most and they were the reason why I didn't like this Glossybox. They are very small samples of a shampoo, soap bar and body lotion from an Italian brand called Prima Spremitura. They have such a strong olive oil scent - well, I suppose there's some strange olive oil extract in them, so that's why they smell so much. At first I didn't like their scent at all, but then I kinda got used to it! Anyway, I was very disappointed by these products because they are the same size as the samples you usually find in hotels and that you never use. What's the use of a soap bar in a Glossybox?! I'll probably give the shampoo a try, but the body lotion and the soap bar are of no use to me. I'll add them to my endless collection of samples that I never have the chance to try.

The last one was probably the nicest item in the box. It's a full size Neve Cosmetics Pastello eyeliner in taupe. I don't really use eye pencils because I'm not fond of how they look on me, however there's tons of different ways I could use this. The shade is really particular, it's not a boring black or brown, it's half way between a dark brown and grey. I was pleased to receive this because I've heard good things about Neve Cosmetics and their natural products and I don't really have the chance to try them except if I buy them online!

The day after I received this Glossybox, I unsubscribed. Or at least I thought I had. The day after that, I received a mail from Glossybox telling me the payment for the March box had been successful! I mailed them and they told me I had to get a confirmation email when I unsubscribed. I hadn't gotten that email, so I unsubscribed again and finally got the confirmation email. So basically: they cheated. I'm not going to ask for a refund, but this bothered me to no end.
What are your opinions on Glossybox? Are you subscribed to any service of this kind?

EOS Adult Blue - sponsored by PinkyParadise

I posted about this on my main blog Delicate Youth and I thought I could just repost it here ;)
When I had the chance to review some contact lenses, I was happy to be sponsored by Pinkyparadise.com, one of the most popular circle lenses website. PinkyParadise offers more than 600 circle lenses to choose from, ranging from natural series to enlarging and cosplay ones. They also sell fake lashes, mascaras, facial masks, BB cream and more. As some of you probably know, circle lenses are supposed to enlarge your eye; they're very popular in Asian countries, but I've seen many European and American bloggers wearing them as well! I think that being able to change your eye colour whenever you want is great :)
I received the parcel from PinkyParadise on March 6th, that means 2 weeks after the order was processed. That's quite fast considering it came all the way from Malaysia! The lenses came with a cute animal shaped case, and with some Dariya hair straps as well! They're all over the internet and I just can't wait to try them.. I just can't stand when my hair gets on my face!

These are my very first pair of lenses. I can see perfectly and I've never worn glasses or lenses, so these are of course without any power prescription. I had quite a hard time putting them on (I am clumsy and -again- I've never worn lenses before) and I wasted so much of my dad's saline solution, but after the lenses were so comfortable I couldn't even feel them on. As you can see from the photos below, my eyes look *huge*. I have pretty big eyes of my own, but with these lenses on they look so big I don't even know if I like it or not! I looked at myself in the mirror and I thought "I look like a frog." LOL

Weight: 0 kg, 100 grams
Stock: Stock available
Manufacturer: E.O.S
Diameter : 14.0mm
Water Content : 38%
Base Curve : 8.6mm

The design is very pretty, they look quite natural compared to some of the lenses you can find on Pinkyparadise.com.
Overall, I'd give these a 9/10: they are super comfortable, they don't look too obvious while enlarging your eye and the colour is very nice; I'm just not that happy of how they look on me.. I should have picked a pair with a smaller diameter, but I didn't have a clue when I chose them! We all have to start somewhere, don't we!
However, I was I am very pleased with Pinkyparadise.com and I am very curious to try more of their products.

Also, if you use the code "delicateyouth" at check out, you get a free animal lens case plus mystery gifts!

And now a blurry overexposed photo of myself. LOL

Skinfood Peach Sake toner

You might probably know that my favourite fruit is peaches, and that's the reason why I chose Skinfood Peach Sake toner! As I told you in this post, this product was part of a swap with a girl from Seoul!

"SKINFOOD is the first food cosmetic brand developed with a differentiated unique concept of 'food'.
SKINFOOD delivers complete nutrition to the skin through the strict selection of foods that are good for the skin such as avocado, fresh milk, and tomato."

One thing that I love about Skinfood is that they have so many peach scented products! I wish I could try every one of them. I am currently using Skinfood Peach Sake BB Cream, which, as you can tell from the name, smells like peaches as well!
I am quite happy with this toner. I use it every evening and whenever I feel like my skin is oily or impure. It leaves a nice sensation of freshness and cleansing :)
The only thing I don't like much about this is the packaging. The bottle is made of thick glass and it's really heavy, which doesn't make it very handy. I am really clumsy and whenever I pick it I fear I could drop it! The pro is that it looks expensive, haha ;)

Lioele Real Vivid Matte Lipstick

I was very interested in trying a bright orange lipstick, and when I got the chance to do a swap with a South Korean girl I was happy to choose a Lioele product!

The packaging is nothing special, as you can see it's very simple.

The colour is a very light orange with heavy yellow undertones and I think that's the reason why I don't like how it looks on me. It doesn't go well with my skin tone, which is yellow-ish, and it just makes me look ill! :( maybe it's also because the texture is very creamy and it has a matte effect. Maybe if it was sheer, it would have looked better on me.

I don't get why on this website's swatches it looks so sheer, while it's very creamy in reality! :O

Have you ever tried this product? What do you think about it?

Topshop Adrenalin ++ Models Own Purple Ash

I've bought these two nail polishes while in Dublin in the second week of February. Make-up and beauty wise, Ireland is quite well provided in comparison to Italy! Well, at least in comparison to where I live.

Photobucket

I got the Topshop Adrenalin for €7. I wasn't looking for anything in particular when I entered the shop. I really wanted to try their make-up, but nothing really caught my eye and I didn't want to spend money on something that I didn't like much. So I headed to the nail polish counter because I was sure I would find some shades I wanted to try - my nail polish collection is so small! I was right, and I istantly fell in love with Adrenalin: heavily packed with glitters, with a hint of light pink. I am wearing it right now paired with Layla Bijou #49, and I love it! I bet I'll be using a lot in the spring :)

Photobucket

The other nail polish I got in Boots. You can't even imagine how I'd like Boots to be in Italy! It carries so many amazing brands like Bourjois, Barry M, Soap&Glory and of course Models Own. I was very interested in trying a Models Own nail polish because it seems the whole blogosphere loves them. I chose Purple Ash, a beautiful deep purple shade. I do love this nail polish, it's very elegant and makes me feel like a grown up lady, haha! I noticed tipwear after just one day though. Maybe the topcoat I used wasn't that great, but I'm annoyed by this anyway :/
